TOURING FALL 2008 - SPRING 2009!
If you've been living under a rock and somehow haven't heard about this world-famous comedy romp, here's the deal: Two performers who are part actor and part quick-change artist play 20 different hilarious characters - and often strange characters that comprise a typical day in the Lone Star State's third smallest city, Tuna, Texas.
The show opens with the morning news report from the low-power radio station (275 watts) hosted by two slow-talking broadcast celebrities - Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie - who keep the town up-to-date on Tuna's late breaking news.
The play then quick-changes to all the various news scenes and crime scenes around town. For instance, Judge Buckner dies under mysterious circumstances. Vera Carp and her censorship club (the Smut Snatchers of the New Order) meet to censor the dictionary, town drunk R.R. Snavely spots a UFO shaped like a bean burrito, the Tuna Little Theatre performs My Fair Lady using the scenery and costumes from South Pacific and the town's one-man Humane Society launches an urgent campaign to rescue homeless ducks.
This production is as close to perfect as you might imagine. Ed Howard, who directed Greater Tuna Broadway and is one of the three writers of the comedy, directs this touring production.
